What could be better than fragrant fields of purple set against a backdrop of crystal blue freshwater? Each farm offers a unique opportunity to learn more about lavender, agriculture, and rural culture. Notice some farms are open to the public on a regular or seasonal basis, while others can only be accessed by appointment. Some showcase their products at local farmers’ markets, while others hold festivals or field days. The profile of each farm will provide you with their specific details. We are a small family owned lavender farm in Northeast Indiana near Rome City. We began our lavender farm in 2008 to better steward the land resources God blessed us with. We wanted to create a venture that would lead to an active retirement and share our land with others. We offer entertaining educational tours for individuals and groups on growing and using lavender, creating pollinator habitats, and using ornamental grasses in your landscape. You can also visit our farm store where you will find handmade products and gifts. Please come join us, we love to make new friends!
We call ourselves a "large garden" rather than a farm. We have about 200 plants. We make soap, lotion, sprays and creams in small batches and sell at farm markets mostly. We make several products using buds, such as sachets, sleep pillows and neck wraps. We package our own culinary lavender also. My husband is an amateur photographer and takes lovely pictures of our garden which we sell on note cards and as canvases.
Shades of Lavender is a dream come true for us. The dream was to work with the earth and enhance our surroundings. Lavender is so beautiful and inspiring. The goal at Shades of Lavender Farm is to create products that give people comfort. Lavender is such a versatile product and we make homemade lotions, bar soaps, liquid soap, lip balms, candles and many more products. We have just begun our journey in the year 2015 and have great hopes and dreams for the farm. We have big dreams for our farm, with hopes to open it up to the public some day so that they can enjoy walking through the fields and find peace. Our plans include a new barn with a store so that people can purchase our products. We visualize wedding photos, graduation photos, garden clubs and family events being held on our farm. It will be a place that you can come to quietly reflect and find comfort in the beauty of God's creation. Please visit our web site often and see all of the changes that will be happening in the years to come. Feel free to contact us and ask questions. Our products are currently being developed and we will update you when available. We are so very excited to be on this journey and we are looking forward to awesome things happening in the future!
